This paperback booklet is the May, 1964, issue of the journal Liberal Education. The contents are the expanded version of seven papers presented at the 50th annual meeting of the Association of American Colleges on Jan 13, 1964.
Seven distinguished educators were the principal speakers. The Editor's Preface says that "These men were invited as being exceptionally well qualified to initiate debate on the role of liberal education in a democratic society in the latter part of the twentieth century and, more particularly, the place of the liberal arts college in American education."
