ABSTRACT

Here is a remarkable book written for all those of us physicians who love thought-producing books which can add much to our general education. It is a joy to find something written by a very well-educated man with an encyclopedic knowledge of all sorts of things. When, as in the case of John Greenway, one finds a man who is an anthropologist, a student of folklore, and the possessor of a wry sense humor, one must read what he writes. Greenway spent time in Australia studying the primitive black people there; he has written several books on anthropology, on primitive music, and on the peoples of the Pacific and their cultures. He is an associate professor of anthropology at the University of Colorado.
