Dr. Donald Bauer has written a book which should be very useful for the young radiologist. If it is also read and the criticisms taken to heart by other than radiologists, it would have a beneficial effect on American medicine. But Dr. Bauer's main objective has been to put down some advice for the young man starting in radiology. Some of this is the essence of practicality. He gives information on technique and on how to write reports properly; he tells how to equip an office, how to hire and what to expect of employees; he talks about the purchase of insurance and setting up routines, and many other subjects. In other chapters he talks about philosophy and ethics in the practice of radiology and the relation of radiology to other specialities.
