ANNOUNCEMENTS 

Center for Aging Research.  —Establishment of a Center for Aging Research in the National Institutes of Health has been accomplished.Dr. G. Halsey Hunt, formerly associate chief of the Service's Bureau of Medical Services, was appointed director of the Center. He assumed his duties on Nov. 19.The new Center is a part of the Public Health Service's program to coordinate and accelerate all of its activities in the field of aging. In the Office of the Surgeon General, these activities have been placed under the direction of Dr. John W. Porterfield.The primary objective of the new program is to encourage and support additional research into the mechanisms involved in aging. The program will assist universities and other research institutions in establishing a broad research program which will bring the full range of biological, psychological, and social sciences to bear on the problem.
