—Radioactive cortisone for use in medical research will be manufactured with the aid of funds from the National Institute of Arthritis and Metabolic Diseases, Dr. Russell M. Wilder, Director of the Institute, announced. The Institute is under the supervision of the Public Health Service of the Federal Security Agency. The radioactive cortisone has not been produced hitherto in sufficient quantity for research studies. It will contain radioactive carbon. This will "tag" the cortisone so that it can be traced through the bodies of experimental animals to learn how it produces its effects in health and disease.
