There is available an extensive literature dealing with neoplastic diseases of lower animals. This book, however, deals only with neoplasms of the dog. The author states that more than 1,500 neoplasms were studied as a basis for the book, but, in order to make calculation easy, the statistics on only 1,000 consecutive tumors are presented.
The 1,000 neoplasms discussed were collected from 809 dogs. Chapter 1 includes a general discussion of the material presented. In it are discussed the relationship of age and the occurrence of neoplasms in dogs, the breeds in which neoplasms occurred, the site of occurrence and the relative multiplicity of neoplasms of one type. Chapters 2 to 8 inclusive deal specifically with the following types of neoplasms studied: mammary neoplasms; epithelial neoplasms of the skin and adnexas; neoplasms of mesenchymal origin and of nerve sheaths; melanomas; mast cell sarcomas, lymphosarcomas and histiocytomas; neoplasms of the endocrine
