Like the preceding six volumes, this (the seventh) volume of the collected studies of the Centro de Investigaciones tisiológicas consists of a group of papers and monographs on thoracic conditions. Although some of the work is of a high order, it would be expecting too much to have every study a classic. The monograph on constitution and tuberculosis is one of the best reviews on the subject and is supported by a worthy original study. There is little doubt left in the reader's mind that some genotypic (hereditary) aspects of constitution determine whether certain patients, such as the "heavy-set" and "elongated" types, present different reactions to the tubercle bacillus, with different prognoses. The former is found to have a good prognosis and the latter a bad one, a distinction conforming to wide clinical experience.
