To the Editor We read with great interest the work published by Peritz et al1 highlighting the dilemmas associated with the identification of left ventricular (LV) hypertrabeculation in athletes. Improved echocardiographic resolution has enabled clearer images of the ventricular myocardium and frequently reveals trabeculations. Unsurprisingly, such advances in echocardiography have also coincided with increased reports of LV noncompaction (LVNC).
